Building a Front-end for interacting with Spreadsheet

Hi Experts,

I want to build an interactive Web front-end for a spreadsheet, where users can change inputs which feeds into a spreadsheet on the server, and get feedback real time from the spreadsheet ( the spreadsheet does the calculations using formulas and vlookup )

As users change the inputs one by one, they should see the result of the calculations

So I was wondering if phpexcel can hold a copy of the spreadsheet in memory for the duration of the web session ?

Writing the user inputs to the spreadsheet on file would not work, as there will be simultaneous access from different users.

Many thanks,

The only way you might do what you want is to store your PHPExcel objects in the PHP Session, but I have no idea how efficient that would be or even if it would work properly.

A better approach is to store the spreadsheet into a database and use it for the editing portion. Only when the file is supposed to be saved would then create the PHPExcel object and create a "new version" of the file and overwrite it.
