error writing data into a sheet with formula in its columns

hello!
i have to write data into an existing excel file in one particular sheet.
this sheet i need to write on has formulas in most of its columns.
my problem is that whenever i write data into the sheet's last row i am getting an error like this:
Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'Syntax error: +, lookahead:

any ideas?

What formula are you trying to write? There are unfortunately some bugs writing formulas with PHPExcel_Writer_Excel5. Can you see if problem is this:

In that case that is the problem, PHPExcel_Writer_Excel5 does not support the unary plus operator. Can you remove the + sign ?

Can you explain what kind of formula this is? Is "A" a defined name?

the formula is like this: =+A*(B*.20)
that is what i see when i click on the column
i don't use ms excel often btw
i really really wanna solve this asap
