I have PHPExcel 1.7.6 in a production environment and I'm running into a issue with the return value of getFormattedValue() function and Dates. I'm getting files with the .xlsx extension but I'm not sure what program created them.

Here's what I've analyzed:
  • Date fields do contain an integer value representing a date.
  • Excel Format Code: Date - M/D/YYYY
  • Date display when opened in Excel: M/D/YYYY
  • Date display returned from getFormattedValue() function: YY-MM-DD
I've confirmed this issue exists also with PHPExcel 1.7.9 also.

Any idea as to why this is happening?

I've got the file if you need to use it for testing. It is small.

It woudl certainly be useful having a copy of the file to test against
