I've created a excel 2007 with 10 sheets. All the code before the $objWriter->save($file); Can happen in about 23 seconds. The $objWriter->save($file); takes 160 seconds or more. Is there a way to speed this up?

Can you take a look at my reply in this discussion how to use shared styles?

Please report whether you have success or not. I am curious about the outcome.

I've changed the code and it didn't help. code before the $objWriter->save($file); takes 12 seconds, the $objWriter->save($file); itself takes 558 seconds. so it is even worse.
Any other possible solution?

Hmm... That indicates that the method is not faster, but maybe just helps reducing memory consumption... which is of course also good...

We need to improve performance in PHPExcel. This is probably not easy, but I feel it's coming closer now that many of the critical bugs have been eliminated. There may be nothing simple you can do right now to speed up your script... unfortunately.
