Excel5 Reader and EXTSST record

When reading a BIFF8 file with EXTSST records, the Excel5 Reader throws the exception "Excel file is corrupt. Didn't find CONTINUE record while reading shared strings.".
What is this EXTSST for? Can it be skipped, or do we have to process the block to have valid output?
Does someone already have a patch for this?
(tested with 1.6.4 and release 21132)

It shouldn't be a problem with the EXTSST record. That exception should only be thrown if there is a problem with the SST record. That means a BIFF8 file not following the rules.

If your Excel file is a valid file generated by for example Microsoft Office Excel or OpenOffice.org, then it could be a problem with Excel5 reader. Can you please send me the Excel file to erik at phpexcel.net so I that can inspect.
